The 7 Best Breakfasts to Supercharge Your Day

Athlete or not, breakfast remains the most important meal of the day. It literally breaks the fast from the night before, and kick-starts your metabolism for the day ahead. The right breakfast will prevent cravings, keep you energised, and can even encourage you to get out of bed. To that effect, we present the 7 best breakfast foods to supercharge your day!

1. Oatmeal

Ever noticed the henched Scotsman on the front of the Scot’s Porage Oats box? From his rippling muscles, to his full head of hair, he’s just about the buffest cereal box character there is (after Tony the Tiger, of course), and he’s got his morning bowl of oats to thank for that. High in folate, omega 3, potassium, and cholesterol lowering fibre, this is the definition of a serious cereal.

2. Grapefruit

Although grapefruits are an acquired taste, they’re certainly a taste worth acquiring. Not only hydrating, the flesh is packed with immunity boosting anti-oxidants, while many studies have also reported fat burning effects, too.

3. Eggs

An incredibly well rounded food (if you’ll excuse the pun), eggs are packed with protein and are one of the only edible sources of vitamin D. Opt for hardboiled or poached for a healthier serving, and why not add a few slices of grapefruit on the side, for an additional boost of vitamins.

4. Blueberries

If the Superfoods were some form of comic book action team, blueberries would definitely have a strong case for beings their leader. In addition to high amounts vitamin C and vitamin K, they also pack a powerful punch of antioxidants. Throw a handful into your porridge for a healthy alternative to sugar or salt.

5. Coffee

Not only preferable to a slap round the face when it comes to getting out of bed, coffee provides a cocktail of antioxidants, in addition to numerous other health benefits, as explored in our previous blog post. Drink it with your breakfast, as opposed to instead of, and after just one cup, you’ll be...full of beans.

6. Fish

From humble kippers to a sophisticated serving of caviar, fish is a rich source of lean protein, provides a truckload of vitamins, and is literally swimming in omega 3.
