Whether you’re travelling to the gym, a weekend away, or even abroad, there’s nothing more annoying than arriving only to discover your shampoo has leaked all over your clothes....although, forgetting your bag altogether is pretty frustrating, too. Luckily, there’s a new product on the market which not only offers a practical solution, but a luxurious one, too.
Popping the bubble....
Before we move on, it’s time to wash away an old myth – a lathery shampoo is not a sign of quality. In fact, it’s quite the reverse, and is basically a marketing ploy to disguise the use of a chemical called Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a fantastic cleaning product, don’t get us wrong, which is why you’ll find the ingredient in all sorts of detergents from carwash to floor cleaner. But do you really want to be using the same thing that removes dead flies from your bonnet, on your hair?
Basically, when it comes to cleaning, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is too good, and as such, can be corrosive on your scalp and rid your hair of its natural oils, in turn drying it out, which is precisely why you won’t find it in the new ‘acu’ hair range.
So, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate aside (partly because you must be sick or reading it by now), how is the acu range going to make your on-the-go lifestyle easier?
Step 1 - The acu SHAMBAR
The acu SHAMBAR looks like a bar of soap, but then again, looks can be deceiving. Mainly encompassed of coconut oil (which, incidentally, is great for taming frizz), simply rub it between your palms (steady!), in place of your normal liquid shampoo, and then work it into your hair for wonderfully moisturised, silky locks.
Once done, throw it back into the specially designed travel case, and hey presto, shampooed hair without the shampooed clothes.
As we said, practical and luxurious.
Step 2 - The acu LÖTION
If the name alone doesn’t already smack of Scandinavian minimalism, wait until you get a load of the packaging, and like our no-nonsense Swedish cousins, the acu LÖTION gets down to business without a fuss.
Basically a glorified ‘leave-in’ conditioner, once you've washed out the SHAMBAR, simply squirt it into your hands (....steady!) and massage into your towel dried hair. And that’s it. No need to rinse, and therefore, no need to hang around in the gym showers for longer than is absolutely necessary.
With keynote aromas provided by eucalyptus, lavender, bergamot and rosemary, these essential, enriching ingredients will not only continue to nourish your hair until the next wash, but also happen to smell sensational without being overtly masculine or feminine. And once again, due to its sealed unit design, there’s no danger of it spilling all over the confines of your gym bag, either...namely, your treasured Be An Athlete Tracksuit!
Obviously, the acu hair range isn’t just limited to travel and gym use. It also caters for your more traditional shampoo and conditioner requirements, all offering the same level of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate-free luxury.
Checkout the full range here, and for another post-workout 'luxury' why not slip your new, heavenly head of hair into a Be An Athlete Premium Hoodie afterwards...
